Hainanese Delights: Reviews & Ratings

I'm a big fan of the unlimited rice concept (may the gods bless whoever thought of it first) but I'm a bit sick of the chicken inasal restaurants that pop up like mushrooms all over the city, which is why I really enjoy Hainanese Delights, and why I keep recommending the place to everyone, since it's still shamefully underrated. My favorite branch is the one in Robinson's Manila, as they are never packed. Their signature dish, as you may have guessed by now, is their Hainanese chicken. This comes with unlimited rice, a bowl of soup, and an unlimited supply of crushed ginger in oil that blends oh so well with the sauce of the chicken. You will be getting more than two helpings of rice, I guarantee it.

If you're tired of the plethora of chicken inasals cropping up all over the metro but are still a big fan of the whole unli-rice deal, you might want to try out Hainanese Delights. The formula is the same as the quintessential Mang Inasal meal, but exchange grilled with Hainanese Chicken, and toyomansi with crushed ginger. Whenever my lobster and I go to a rice-all-you-can place, we always compete for the most number of extra rice conquered. The last time we were here, I won with five extra rice orders (and only now do I see just how sad that is), even though my lobster abused the ginger sauce. Who cares though, real women order extra rice. Deal with it.

Location

Welcome to Hainanese Delights, a hidden gem nestled in the bustling heart of Robinson’s Place Padre Faura, Manila. This unique chicken shop stands apart from the myriad of dining options available, particularly for those weary of the all-too-common chicken inasal joints that populate the city. Here, we embrace the comforting flavors of Hainanese cuisine, with a focus on the star of the show: the Hainanese Chicken.

What sets Hainanese Delights apart is not just its delectable offerings, but also the delightful dining experience it provides. Customers rave about the unlimited rice concept, which complements the signature chicken dish perfectly. As Sean Patrick R. pointed out, it's hard to resist going back for seconds—or even fifths—of that fluffy, white rice paired with the tender, succulent chicken.

Each plate is generously served with a hearty bowl of soup and an unlimited supply of crushed ginger in oil. This tangy sauce, originally a humble accompaniment to the chicken, elevates the meal to gastronomic heights. The rich flavor of the chicken drenched in this aromatic concoction is a must-try experience for anyone looking to spice up their dining routine.

What I find particularly appealing is how Hainanese Delights offers a refreshing change of pace from the often overwhelming options at other rice-all-you-can establishments. The ease of enjoying a satisfying meal without the crowds makes it an ideal spot for food lovers. As Kristine B. humorously notes, the friendly competition over who can conquer the most servings of rice adds an element of fun to the dining experience.

In conclusion, whether you're a local or a visitor, Hainanese Delights promises a true culinary journey filled with flavor and comfort. It’s not just about the food; it’s about the joy of sharing a meal with friends or family, all while indulging in the rich, tender notes of Hainanese chicken. Don’t miss the chance to explore this underrated treasure in the vibrant food scene of Manila—your taste buds will thank you!
